The Server performance analysis group in System software division within SSG is looking for a Performance Engineer to conduct experiments on virtualized server platforms. The candidate will be responsible for running server workloads (e.g., Citrix, SAP, SpecJBB, SysBench) on a variety of VMMs, all on DP and MP hardware systems. Statistics gathered off the platform will be analyzed for sources of performance bottlenecks (memory & I/O bandwidth, memory latency) and used to influence the architecture and algorithms used in the VMMs, future generations of Company?s VT technology, and provide competitive collateral. Results will be captured in white papers and distributed externally to the group.
Qualifications
You should possess a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 2+ years experience; or a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 4+ years experience. Additional qualifications include:
- Solid understanding of computer architecture and server platform hardware
- Experience with Linux* and Windows* operating systems
- Ability to drive action across Company groups and within the industry
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to take abstract concepts and develop concrete action plan to influence Company and VMM vendors.
Knowledge of performance collection tools (VTune, PIN, etc.) is also a plus. |
