Thermal test engineer (Server)

Description
In this position, you will be a member of the Systems Engineering team in Enterprise Platforms and Services Division (EPSD). With a strong technical background in thermal engineering, you will be responsible for developing and validating cooling solutions for enterprise and volume server platforms. You will be working on advanced cooling technologies required to meet the thermal challenges of increasing power density on future servers. As a key contributor in the system development process, you will work closely with system and/or thermal architects, board engineers, mechanical engineers and server management teams. You will be working on all aspects of system thermal solution, including chassis and/or cooling subsystem layout, optimal placement of critical components, airflow and/or ducting requirements, fan and/or blower selection, speed control algorithms, and processor and/or chipset heatsink designs. As part of the product development, the thermal team is also responsible for qualifying the designs to the Company's thermal requirements.
Qualifications
You should possess either a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with five to seven years or relevant experience, a Master of Science degree with two to four years of relevant experience. Additional qualifications include:
- Proficient in thermal simulation software (Flotherm* or Icepak*)
- Extensive hands-on knowledge of system thermal and acoustic testing techniques
- Familiarity with fundamental electrical engineering principles
- Good English communication skills
- Good interpersonal, communication, problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with both system level (server, workstation or desktop) and component level thermal modeling and testing would be an added advantage
- A working knowledge of ProEngineer* and statistical methodologies such as Monte-Carlo* simulation would be an added advantage
